Central Switzerland

Central Switzerland is the cradle of Switzerland where its origins were founded in 1291. The area can be reached quickly and easily from all parts of Switzerland, and can be combined with excursions to or from the Bernese Oberland, Grisons, Tessin and the Valais. Experience the beautiful homeland of the Swiss national hero, William Tell, and the old Confederates, in the heart of Switzerland. "Inner Switzerland" is less than one hour away from Zurich's international airport.

Lucerne is very popular as a starting point for fringe programmes and incentives in Central Switzerland, thanks to its proximity to Zurich. As a centre for congresses, meetings and incentives, Lucerne offers ideal pre-requisites.

This historic "shining" town dates from 1178 and offers, with the famous wooden bridge and the 13th century water tower, exemplary infrastructure for both meetings and holidays: it has over 60 hotels, 10 interesting museums, wonderful shopping and entertainment facilities. The new Culture and Congress Centre (KKL) seat 1800 people for international congresses and is situated directly by the world-famous Lake Lucerne, with its nostalgic fleet of steamers inviting you to take excursions into beautiful Central Switzerland.

Lucerne is 65 km from Zurich Airport and 110 km from Basle Airport. The historic little town of Zug is 30 minutes from Zurich and Lucerne, and offers a variety of MICE activities. Engelberg (1050 m.a.s.l.), a winter and summer paradise in Canton Obwalden, and Andermatt (1430 m.a.s.l.) in Canton Uri, are both 45 minutes away from Lucerne. The glacial region of Titlis (3020 m.a.s.l.) above Engelberg, is the highest excursion point and offers winter and outdoor activities the whole year: it is 2 hours by road from Zurich Airport. Central Switzerland boasts the greatest density of mountain railways in Switzerland.
