For seminars, meetings and conferences Lugano on "Lake Ceresio", Locarno and Ascona on Lago Maggiore offer international conference and hotel infrastructure with fascinating supporting programmes and a lot of character for incentives. In this vine-growing Canton, the Merlot grape is the most well-known, and the vineyards invite you to bacchantic wine-tasting events. The authentic valleys "Valli" with their typical grotto restaurants can be reached easily and offer a large variety of outdoor activities. Bellinzona, the capital of the Canton, with its imposing castles, takes you right back to the middle ages. The southern Leventine valley and the Gotthard Pass (2,108 m.a.s.l.) are considered the shortest and most interesting routes from Northern Europe to Italy, to the Mediterranean, and are seeped in world history - you can even take a trip by Gotthard Post Coach, like in great-grandfather's times. The area can be reached direct from Lugano's international airport, or from Milano-Malpensa Airport with a transfer time of 60 minutes to Lugano. From Zurich Airport, the journey by motorway to Lugano/ Locarno-Ascona takes less than 3 hours. There are also regular air services between Zurich, Basle, Geneva and Lugano.
